Man Crush Monday! Part 1

I just want to say that I love movies that Johnny Depp and Tim Burton have worked on together. Obviously Johnny Depp is gorgeous but the work he does with Tim Burton is amazing! He really submerges himself into the role.
My personal favorite would be Edward Scissorhands. Yes, I know I was 2 when this movie came out. However I absolutely love it!
This movie was a fantastic display of a neighbourhood dynamic. The women REALLY loved him and most of the men hated him. Mostly due to him being different. This movie showed viewers that not only is it alright to be different but encourages you to be yourself. Of course there is tons of emotional turmoil in the movie itself as Edward battles with his own mind about being different and people being afraid of him however he overcomes that with grace.
I am hoping to make a series about this and I am looking for suggestions as to which one to feature next week. Please leave a comment below with YOUR favorite Tim Burton and Johnny Depp movie and yours might be featured in next weeks #mancrushmonday.
One last picture of the beautiful Johnny Depp. :)

Tipping habits in restaurants

This afternoon while J and I were packing up some stuff around the house and he presented this idea to me. He claims that as a male he is much more willing to leave a higher tip for a woman versus a man. He even went so far to say that most people feel the same, which of course I would have to disagree with. I leave a tip based on the service provided and the bill amount. I have worked in the service industry and I know how much people rely on their tips for things. Sometimes even for a ride home that same night. My question to you would be, how do you tip? I will post the results next Friday and see who tips who more. I will have a new poll next week as a follow up so be sure to check back and have your voice heard!

Friday Reads!

I am definitely a book lover. I have TONS of books on the go right now. A while back when J and I were engaged, someone suggested to him to buy the book The 5 Love Languages and to read it together. He went out and bought it for me as a wedding present and gave it to me at our rehearsal dinner. For a long time we were reading it nightly to each other outloud which was so much fun!
This book is really well written. It goes over the 5 different languages of love. Since everyones needs and wants are different it really offers you a different perspective on how other people display their affection or how they would like to receive affection as well. There have been other releases of the 5 love languages such as a special edition for men and I believe I saw a teenager one as well. In the book there are 5 different types of ways that you can fill someones love tank. Words of Affirmation Acts Of Service Physical Touch Quality Time Receiving Gifts I don't want to go into too much detail about each of the categories since that's pretty much what the book is about. In each section there is an area to go over and figure out which one your significant other falls into and which one you do. Because you may not even know it yourself which category best describes you. There are activities and discussions in the book to have with your SO also. If you're having a tough time connecting or just want to know more about your partner this is a fantastic gift to them and yourself because in the end you will both benefit from it.

Netflix binge watching

Last weekend J was away and I was really sick, so I started my Netflix binge. Because let's be honest. You can't just casually watch Netflix. I swear it is my personal mission to watch as much as possible in as short of a time as possible! Not even on purpose!
Anyway, so I watched some Bones (which I love dearly) and finally decided that Saturday was the day I was going to get into the show The 100. It looked really good from the reviews. I am a die hard Fringe fan so it showed up in my recommendations, my best friend Em was telling me she started watching it and really enjoyed it so I gave it a shot.
I didn't look at the episode list before doing so though. For almost 4 glorious hours I was submerged in this wonderful yet terrifying idea of what the world would look like after a nuclear war. Earths lone survivors have been living on a space station for a few generations and they are running out of oxygen. 100 juvenile delinquents are sent back to Earth to check if it is in fact habitable or not yet due to the radiation. The plot is great! The storyline is very intriguing, and quite abruptly midway through the 4th episode, Em texts me saying did you know there are only 4 episodes on Netflix? My mind was reeling! How is this possible. I am now so in depth with this show I didn't want my watching binge to stop there. Sure enough, at the end of the episode there are no more. It is currently playing on CW Wednesdays at 9 / 8 central. What an utter disappointment. I am anxiously waiting another episode, because like most sequels they leave you with a fairly substantial cliff hanger at the end.
I'm not saying you should not watch this show. In fact I am strongly encouraging you to watch it! I think it was very well written and I'm having a good time following the story.
In case you have never heard about this show I added a link to IMDB for some information about it.

(The views expressed here are my sole opinion. I am in no way being compensated for this entry. I just want to share my current favorite TV series)

My Fur Babies

Since I've mentioned my fur babies a couple times I figured I would let you see them!
The one on the left is my Lenny. He is so sweet and cuddly and clumsy! His paws are too big for him and he trips over his own feet constantly. Hes just over 2 years old. The one on the right is Miss Emma. She was born (according to her papers) the same day I met my now husband. If that's not meant to be than I don't know what is. She will be 5 this year. She is a spooner. When I'm waking up in the mornings she jumps in bed and is the little spoon until I wake up.
This big guy is Taz. I've had him since he was a couple of weeks old. Definitely too young to be away from mama yet but he was dropped off at a pet store while I was there and I fell in love instantly. They said he wouldn't make it through the weekend. Now in a month it will be 7 years later. So, he's doing alright. He's a bit skitish but he's always been like that.
Next up is Tiz. One day the hubby came home and said *oh my dads friend said they have little grey kittens to give away* Of course thats the exact cat that I wanted. A sweet little grey kitten. We get there I fall in love with this little girl cat and J finds this one. It looks so similar to my Taz we had to get him instead. He will be 4 this year.
This is Cashmere. He is the sweetest, gentlest cat you have ever met. He just wants to lay with you and be pet. But if you don't want to or are too busy he's okay with that too. J was working out on a farm one day and there were 12 of these little rascals running around, following him and jumping all over the equipment. For our one year wedding anniversary J came home with this little guy. One small detail, within the first week we came to the conclusion that he is deaf. So he runs around the house oblivious to anything and everyone else just doing his own thing. Once you catch his attention though he comes running. And meowing, loudly. He's not even a year old yet and he's as big as Tiz.
Obviously being the animal lover that I am, once I heard this little ones story I had to scoop her up and bring her home. This is Diamond. Shes the only girl out of the cats and she knows it. She walks around like a little princess. They all clean her and cuddle with her all the time. The only place she actually wants to cuddle though is right up against my throat and chest when I'm sleeping. She will lay there licking my chin and purring until either one of us or both fall asleep. This little one is only about 6 months old. I was trying to come up with some post ideas last night and this is what she was doing. There was no way I was getting ANY work done. So this is my fur family whom I love dearly. I hope they are going to like the new farmhouse in 2 weeks. Fingers crossed! I would love to hear from you about your fur babies!!!!
